I've seen the 'typical yopey' on the Yopey TV Page but what's the buzz like? How does it feel to be getting an award?

It feels amazing, and the adrenaline going through your body when they tell you it's you, and you're just so happy. I won the bucks 08.

I was lucky enough to get to go to a Yopey awards evening in Herts in September 08, and I was really impressed by how well-organised it was. A great evening, and inspiring to hear people's stories.

Think of the Awards you see on TV imagine what it would be like to be there and that is just a fraction of how it feels. It is such an emotional night.

I was lucky enough to have won the Senior Category for BUCKS 2008. The evening was so perfect and dazzling. I am so honoured to have been a small part of it,

Being at a YOPEY awards ceremony is amazing - just an air of nervousness as they all want to win - but they have already won being in the YOPEY final. I was lucky enough to win the first East Herts Yopey final junior section in 2006. I have also been a judge on a number of occasions.

It's a wonderful and memorable evening/event. Everyone gets dressed up, feels a little bit like a BAFTA or similar type of event. Tony introduces all of the finalists, I was asked to read out an extract out of a paper with an article about me; really nerve-racking, but ultimately great fun!!!

It is scary but exciting at the same time. I knew though I wouldn't have won overall.

The event overall is brilliant. You get to know and meet new people, it's very relaxing but nerve racking at the same time. You go into the hall and see all these people sitting down and you go to sit in your seat thinking what's going to happen. But you feel ok once you get onto the stage and answer your question which is asked by Tony.

Once you get the award it's very relieving. And you get loads of pictures taken. So even if you do not win you still must feel proud of yourself because you know how hard you have worked by helping others. ;)

I attended the Essex Yopey back in November 2007 at the Uni in Chelmsford. After registering and having light drinks and food we all had our photos taken for press and with your friends and family.

We then moved to the auditorium and all the winners sat at the front while Tony introduced everyone and told them each story. Then after that the winners were announced.

If you're going to one, enjoy it and have fun.

Will see anyone at the Essex one next month. GOOD LUCK

I kinda agree with you here Sabath. Proves that you have worked hard to even get nominated and to be in the final.

It can be scary. Everyone at the awards evening copes differently. With me I knew that I wouldn't be the winner, but it was a nice atmosphere being at the event.

The awards are great. I don't really get a chance to sit back and see how people are reacting because i'm so busy helping to run it, but it looks spectacular. You just need to take it in your stride and enjoy it.

going to a YOPEY event is really fun. It depends what type of building you go to but when i went we went through the main doors into the building where everyone was waiting, there was a big food and drink buffa for us to eat and there was lots of people to take photos to give to you and to put on this site :) .arfter about half an hour they expalined to us how we where goin to sit and wat they would ask us we then all went into the bug room with lots of chairs set out for the adults and the fianalists sit on a stage and the chairman goes through and tells your story

Thanks for the comment Sharn. Yes it can be very scary, does'nt matter if you did not win like Tony said you are all winners. And you should be soo proud of yourself, the amount of work you do and effort you put in is extraordinary for an ordinary person. :D
